Hug a Ridgeback

  • Everything’s a web service these days. At True & Company you can design the bra of your dreams, but first use their service Perfect Bra to figure out what’s "perfect" for you.
  • Updater.com, for when you’re moving (something we’ll never need), organizes all your moving tasks and has a tool to help notify everyone of your new address. They include everything from government records to updating sensitive accounts or stopping services.
  • The US Geological Survey has a real time Latest Earthquakes in the World – Past 7 days that includes great instructions on how to use it and tips on converting time and understanding magnitude.
  • Have a blog/website/other? The Responsinator will give you a quick glance at what it looks like on various mobile devices. If you’re a developer/designer, the best tool out there for iDevices is the Chrome browser combined with Adobe Shadow. Big help through the Mobile Best Practices class I just finished.
  • OK, so The Image Language Gallery isn’t actually a service. Glance through the gallery, be sure to roll over the phrases with your mouse to see what they are, then go to the home page and enter one of your own, like the "Hug A Ridgeback" one shown.
  • I’m a Kickstarter fan. It’s such a great way to help out unique projects. One of my current favorites is The Olympic City. Can’t wait to see the outcome — it looks like they’ll meet their goal. Check it out. Reserve your copy: photographic aftermaths from fabulous slices of history, the Olympics, from a side we seldom see.
  • Kubbu.com is a free service for teachers that allows them to create games, quizzes and crossword puzzles on line.
  • Academic Earth is a GREAT collection of science-oriented tutorial videos by well-known scholars and downloadable exercises.
  • Lets not forget a service I spend tons of time at, the Google Art Project. Thousands of artworks online gathered from art museums around the world. (best viewed in Google Chrome)
