We’ve had some interesting wildlife hanging out recently. Mark’s been feeding the birds for 19 generations, and one of the outcomes besides lots of birds, is predators. This hawk has been by a few times getting some of the larger birds. He plucks them before he takes them up to a tree to eat, leaving behind just a pile of feathers. Later from the back tree, he drops the carcass, and not long after, a turkey buzzard cruise on through. Life cycle
Good news if you’re a student in Missouri. Last night Amendment 2 passed allowing prayer in public, and in school. It also allows any student to miss any assignment if they say it interferes with their religious beliefs. So get out the Bull Finches Mythology kiddies, and find a God who disapproves of anything in class, and you’re out of there. WooHoo! Bit of a nightmare for teachers though having to hold a prayer session for every religion in class, and excusing half the kids on religious reasons. Course the schools will get less funding with all those absences, and the quality of education will drop again, just like with those new books that explain anything scientific is a theory and only God’s word interpreted by certain Christians is fact.
Personally I find it pretty amazing how these extremists are taking over the country and twisting our constitution into something our founding father’s would never recognize. We’re becoming what the pilgrims were escaping. And I just HATE that they’ve made conservative a bad word, calling themselves conservative is equal to me referring to myself as a goddess. Neither is true.
Looks like Dad and Barbara will be visiting end of September. We were happy to hear that, since we thought Barbara wasn’t coming to California this year. We’ll also be seeing them shortly when we head to North Carolina to see the new grand-daughter. Tes will be at Mike and Pennie’s and Joseph and Vlad will be doing the house sitting. We get everyone involved in our yearly trip.
The Union of Concerned Scientists has a new online game out, the Getaway. In it your taking a trip where you utilize government safeguards while corporate interference with science messes with you. So go try your adventure, and see how you do.
On a political cartoon side note, if you haven’t seen the cartoon video take off on School House Rock, taking a jab at ALEC, you might want to.
